Description
This limited edition timepiece is from the Presage “Craftsmanship” Classic Series – watches made by skilled Japanese craftspeople which complement Seiko’s watchmaking expertise.
Arita, a small town in Kyushu – third largest island in southwest Japan, came to prominence in the early 17th century when clay suitable for porcelain was discovered, becoming highly prized for high quality artistry. Despite a history of over 400 years, this traditional craft has never stopped evolving in terms of materials and moulding techniques. The handcrafted nature of the dial means that no two watches are the same – the tiny indentations and colour variations on the dial being the signature of genuine Arita porcelain.
Under dual-curve sapphire crystal glass is an delicately textured Arita porcelain dial in a shade of ‘Ruri Blue,’ also known as lapis-lazuli blue. This is the deepest Arita glaze ever achieved by Seiko Presage. The case of this timepiece has a super-hard coating, allowing for improved scratch-resistance. The newly designed case has a curved lug for a more comfortable fit. It is paired with a sustainable LWG-certified leather strap, and comes in its own special box.
This timepiece is powered by an in-house automatic 6R51 movement, accurate to -15/+25 seconds per day, with a power reserve of 72 hours.
Seiko Presage: Timeless looks, precise mechanical timekeeping. Minimalistic watch designs with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.
*In an actual product, the case back direction might be different from the photograph.
*This Arita porcelain dial is created through handwork and firing at a high temperature. As a result, it may have little dimples, tiny dots, and an uneven color. These are unique features of genuine Arita porcelain dials, of which no two are exactly alike.
