This limited-edition timepiece originated from the Seiko ‘Power Design Project;’ a creative initiative which encourages designers to explore imaginative approaches to watchmaking.

Originally conceived as “A Watch Exclusively for Panda Lovers,” this timepiece is one of two limited editions exclusively available from the Seiko London Boutique and Official Website in the UK, with only 2,000 pieces available worldwide. This watch brings the animal’s distinctive characteristics to life through thoughtful details.

The chronograph pushers are shaped like rounded panda ears, whilst the crown has been intentionally minimised and positioned at 12 o’clock to further enhance the panda-like appearance of the case. The white dial features a textured finish inspired by panda fur, with sub-dials designed in the iconic drooping eye shape associated with the panda’s recognisable expression. At 6 o’clock, a printed nose and subtly upturned mouth complete the design, whilst the hands are shaped like bamboo leaves, a fun reference to the panda’s favourite food.

Powered by the new 8T61 quartz chronograph movement, this watch combines playful design with reliable timekeeping and stopwatch functionality. The fully functioning tachymeter scale is reimagined as a ‘SASAMETER,’ from the Japanese word “SASA,” meaning bamboo leaf.

The case back continues the panda theme, featuring a specially shaped back plate with a three-dimensional relief depicting the panda from behind, complete with tail detailing. The limited-edition marking and individual production number are positioned above the tail as a subtle finishing touch.
