Description

Inspired by the Seiko Laurel, Japan’s first wrist watch launched in 1913, this blue handcrafted Shippo enamel dial evokes colours of the Japanese ocean.

Each dial is truly unique – combining traditional Japanese ‘Takumi’ artisan craftsmanship with Seiko’s mechanical watchmaking skills in an original collection that offers handcrafted beauty, quality and long-lasting performance. Shippo enamel was developed in Japan in the 17th century and is distinguished from porcelain enamel by its transparency and in the way it is polished after firing – particularly challenging on a watch dial that no more than 1mm thick.

The dial on this new Presage creation is deep blue Shippo which mirrors the colour of the ocean, whilst the pattern echoes the continuous motion of the waves that break on the shores of the Japanese islands.
