Description
In 1923, Japan was hit by the Great Kantō Earthquake, a devastation which meant that Kintaro Hattori had to rebuild his business from scratch. Shortly after, in 1924, K. Hattori and Co released the first ever Seiko branded watch. In 2024, this new Presage design pays homage to 100 years since that very first Seiko.
This commemorative Presage timepiece showcases classic design features from its original inspiration. This includes the same historic logo and the same intricately shaped hands. Its special enamel dial, similar to the original, was created through a painstaking artisanal process of pre-treatment, application, firing and inspection, made personally by the hands of Mr Yokosawa, a veteran Japanese enamel craftsman.
The calf leather strap is ethically sourced from Japan’s LWG-certified tanners. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to responsibly made, sustainable leather production.
Powered by the in-house 6R5H mechanical calibre, accurate to +25/-15 seconds per day with a three-day power reserve, this model is limited to only 1,000 pieces worldwide.
Seiko Presage: Timeless looks, precise mechanical timekeeping; minimalistic watch designs with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.
